Strut Bearing Replacement
MacPherson strut–type front suspensions use an upper suspension strut bearing on top of each front suspension. The wheels are attached to the suspension at each corner of the vehicle.
When the steering wheel is turned, the front suspension pivots on the suspension strut bearing at the top of the suspension and on the ball joint at the bottom of the suspension.
To replace the suspension strut bearing, the wheel is removed. The front suspension assembly is removed from the vehicle and disassembled. The suspension strut bearing is replaced, and the suspension is reinstalled.
