Saturn Outlook Repair and Maintenance
A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your Saturn Outlook
Saturn Outlook Problems
Vehicles with a 6speed automatic transmission may develop one or more of the following faults related to a broken 35R clutch wave plate inside the transmission: Illumination of the Check Engine Light with code P0716, P0776, P0717, P0777, P2714, P2715, and/or P02723, loss of reverse gear, slipping or harsh 3rd or 5th gear shift. Removal and dis-assembly of the transmission will be required to replace the broken 35R wave plate. It is also extremely important that all debris from the failed part be cleaned from the transmission while it is disassembled in order to try and prevent future problems.
A Loose or worn gas cap may cause Check Engine Light to illuminate.
Vehicles with certain V6 engines may illuminate the Check Engine Light one or more of the following codes: P0011, P0014, P0021, P0024, P0341, P0346, P0336, or P0391. Our technicians tell us that some vehicles may require a powertrain control module (PCM) software update to correct this issue. Other vehicles may have excess camshaft end play on one or both cylinder heads which will need to be corrected using special procedures outlined by GM.
Saturn Outlook Questions
Car shifts into drive, reverse and low with no issues. While driving and during acceleration the transmission will shift from 1st to 2nd, but from 2nd to 3rd it doesn't shift and the engine races upwards of 4500 rpm.
Saturn Outlook Recalls
In the affected vehicles, there is a flexible steel steel cable that connects the seatbelt buckle to the front seat frame. Over time the cable may fatigue and separate. If the steel cable separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of an injury in a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected seatbelt buckles (lap pretensioners) to correct this concern.
Increased resistance in the front seat mounted side impact air bag (SIAB) wiring harness can result in the SIAB and seat belt pretensioners not deploying as expected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the affected harness connections with soldered connections to correct this concern.
When moving the seats from a flat to upright position, the second row seat belt buckle may bind on the second row seat trim shield. This could prevent proper operation and securing of the safety belt, which would increase the risk of injury to an occupant. Dealers will modify the second row seat trim shields. The GM recall number is N100243. This recall began on August 18, 2010.
Saturn Outlook Reviews
My Saturn outlook has been nothing but trouble since I got it. Everything that could break has broken. Now she needs a new transmission. I am so frustrated that I bought this car. I have nothing good to say about it.
My Outlook has had power steering issues. At 30k miles the boot was leaking power steering fluid. The steering wheel winds and the power steering fluid is full. I drive my Outlook at least 80 miles a day and it is very comfortable. Its exterior is beautiful and it holds up to the parking garage with no door dings or anything. But, it has no guts and at 50 MPH it shifts like it is trying to...
I love the pig, but she ain't got NO GUTS, the engine is to damn small for the body. I love everything else about her. I'll still keep her. She's AMERICAN, last of the good ones.
