GM OBD Trouble Code 80
Transmission component slipping
The ECM monitors the speed of the input and output shafts of the transmission and calculates the effective gear ratio at any given time. If the calculated gear ratio does not match the expected gear ratio for the currently selected gear code 80 will be set.
Fault Code Description
- 80 - Transmission component slipping
Symptoms
- Transmission shifts may become more firm in an attempt to correct the slipping condition.
Common Problems
- Low transmission fluid level
- Torque converter clutch not working correctly
- Transmission slipping in one or more gears
