The Jeep Cherokee and the Honda CR-V are compact, two-row SUVs. They both come with front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.
The standard engines in the Jeep Cherokee and the Honda CR-V are closely matched. The Cherokee comes with 180 standard horsepower, and the CR-V has 184 standard horsepower. But looking at their optional engines, the Jeep comes out ahead. Its optional 271-horsepower engine gives you over 80 horses more than the CR-V’s 190-horsepower optional engine. For max power, the Jeep Cherokee clearly wins.
Moving on to the cargo space comparison, the Honda CR-V comes out as the clear winner over the Jeep Cherokee. The CR-V’s more space-efficient body can fit 75.8 cubic feet of cargo behind the front seats. The Cherokee comes up with only 54.9 cubic feet with the rear seats down. This is despite the fact that these two vehicles have nearly identical exterior dimensions.
The Cherokee stands alone in terms of serious off-road abilities. It will excel when the pavement comes to an end. The Cherokee Trailhawk model will take you to places most SUVs would not even attempt. If this is what you want your SUV to do, the Cherokee should be your choice.
Or do you need a spacious SUV that will be spending most of its time on the road? If this sounds like you, then the Honda CR-V will get the job done, day in and day out.
