About BackyardMechanic57
I'm no pro. I worked with my dad since 7. I helped in his shop in my early teens. From mid-teens I did all the work on our cars, both carbureted and injected. While I know what they do and how, I’ve done little with cars computers. I was disabled in 2007 so I'm passing my knowledge to my son. He’s not as into cars as me, but he likes saving money! I'll work with whatever he lets me! Had my body not failed and I had the resources, I would experiment with direct injection cam-less engines. ALL valve and engine control would be controlled by computers based on immediate torque needs while maximizing efficiency. Imagine a torque curve which, if needed, could be flat from 2,000 to 12,000 RPM with nothing other than increasing displacement or octane, which could be done dynamically, to increase power. Drive to the track with 87 octane, switch to 118, and return to 87 to get home. 30% more power at the track and 40MPG+ en route. These are just a few benefits of my ideas.
