Question Asked: How to fix Fuel Guage which constantly reading too high?
November 01, 2013, 03:09 PM
Fuel gauge stopped working after a fillip in Colorado high mountain station and stays in FULL position for 120 miles or so, then slowly comes down with gas usage until its a little past half-mark when tanks is almost empty. The digital readouts are more accurate but still not perfectly accurate. No change in month or so of driving. Mechanic did not want to get into it because he said it could be so many causes its going to e very expensive. I disconnected and reconnected the battery, but no change.

Engine light came on intermittently and then continuously. Dealer said it was showing error for exhause flap controller/motor and was a $600 plus repair. Car has 44k miles. Is exhaust flap a emissions part covered by 80k warranty required by NTHSA.

Yes...normal if less than 10 minutes. Our Jetta fan did not stop running and drained the battery. Had to replace entire fan assembly but warranty covered it.

Problem Reported: "No start" Due to Failed Fuel Pump Relay
September 15, 2010, 10:05 PM

The fuel pump relay may fail resulting in a "no start" condition, the engine will crank over but will not start and run. Checking for proper fuel pressure would be the first step in diagnosing this concern.
