Question Asked: Key won't turn in ignition, ignition locked, but key will come out
October 30, 2013, 07:18 PM
I took everything apart and all wires are good, fuses good. So I guess I'll have to get new ignition lock cylinder, but would the lock cylinder cause the problem w shifter nob not popping out all the way? I also noticed that my battery (positive) screw is stripped so I put a charger on it and noticed there is no charge on positive side. Would that cause all the problems?

My shifter nob isnt going in all the way I looked at all wires everything is connected fuses all good, have a code reader but cant read nothn cause I cant turn key. Can I just go by a new shifter, Will that solve some of my problems or calln a locksmith to drill out key lock and maybe he can unlock it?

Problem Reported: Engine Starts and Stalls Due to Secutiry System Fault
January 14, 2011, 10:05 AM

The engine may start and stall with the security light flashing. This is commonly caused by a failed passlock sensor which is part of the ignition lock cylinder. A secondary cause could be the ignition switch itself. Worn contacts inside the ignition switch can cause voltage drop issues which can affect the passlock system. Proper diagnoses should be performed before replacing any parts.
