Question Answered: Where is the blower motor resistor regulator located. My 1986 560Sel Mercedes.
August 28, 2012, 05:53 PM
3 wires on plug under dash that go to the motor, for it to work through its stages of climate control you must have a constant 12 volts to the GREEN top wire(NOT A GROUND),if there is no 12v when you activate blower switch then link via fuseable resistor or 10amp fuse holder to ignition live, do not forget to remove old wire that is already there

does the car die when idling or when you are driving, this will make a difference to the many possible answers to your problem
Question Answered: stalled car
August 28, 2012, 05:43 PM
The OVP relay mentioned here is not part of your engine stalling, it supplies voltage to the idle control relay and the idle air valve (relay inside car passenger foot well) valve in front of air intake (6inch cylinder) If the valve fails its default is open so you rev high, if the relay fails you also rev high, take the relay out and disconnect valve you rev high but still start. First thing, turn on ignition, can you hear from under car both fuel pumps energize, if not then release fuel pressure by slackening the fuel line to fuel distributor (under pressure be careful) then try again, if not then it could be the fuel pump relay on firewall marked kickdown and next to relay marked klima (AC), if pumps are working check for spark, if weak spark coil is probably ok and you need to look at the ignition control module, drivers side front of car of fender well. If u like e mail me, I have spares I can send u and will assist in greater detail.

Question Answered: HIGH IDLE
February 17, 2012, 08:29 PM
Idle control valve (5 inch cylinder with 2 wires on it directly below and at front of the air filter) should have 4 to 4.5volts going to it, if not, pull out carpet on passanger footwell, remove plastic cover (1 10 mm bolt at bottom middle) right on the footwell wall in middle u will see a black box, 3 inches by 4, this is the idle control relay, try changing it, also on a merc 116 engine (1 air intake to air filter) take off air filter, about 8 inches away from idle valve u will see temp sensor, (small round green plug with 2 wires on top, u want the one with a black stripe on it, join into that wire ONLY and then connect to vehicle ground, (if that ground was bad changing either idle relay or valve will not work. Make sure it is that temp sensor u ground and not the one on the thermostat housing
Question Answered: Why would my 1989 420 Mercedes stall on the freeway or upon acceleration?
February 17, 2012, 08:13 PM
have u changed the fuel filter, its the big round unit that sits at the rear passenger side of the car with the twin fuel pumps, it has a black plastic cover over the fuel pump assembly
Question Answered: How do you remove the top timing chain rail pins? Top inside block, banana rail pin.
February 17, 2012, 08:10 PM
If u mean one of the 2 tension guide rails look at the front of the cylinder head, you will see 1 little threaded hole for each tension rail, find a large headed bolt that fits, put washers on the bolt and tighten it, when the bolt hits the end of the tension pin it will draw it out about 3/4 of an inch, u then simply pull it out, refit new pins by LIGHTLY tapping in, would also recommend changing timing chain at the same time
Question Answered: Can i replace my mercedes 1989 420 SEL engine with a 1986 420 SEL engine
February 17, 2012, 08:00 PM
No need to change block, the damage is to the cylinder head valves, it is easier to change the 4 exhaust valves on drivers cam, top tension rails, and new chain, if u would like step by step instructions please e mail me, I have done several.
