Constantly Variable Transmission Fluid

Constantly variable transmission (CVT) transmission fluid is a special blend of base oils, friction modifiers and other additives that are designed to aid in the operation of a CVT transmission. Where a conventional automatic transmission utilizes a torque converterto transmit engine power and torque to the wheels a CVT transmission does not. A CVT Transmission uses a series of metallic belts and pullies to transmit both engine power to the drive wheels and to provide different gear ratios to better utilize the torque characteristics of the engine. The fact that CVT transmissions provide better power, gear ratios and improved overall fuel economy means that increasing numbers of manufacturers are turning to the CVT transmission.
