Camshaft Actuator

A camshaft actuator is a mechanical or electronic device that is mounted on the camshaft gear. Its purpose is to slightly advance or retard the timing of when the camshaft opens or closes the intake and/or exhaust valves.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Camshaft Actuator

  • Illumination of the Check Engine Light
  • Rough idle/engine misfires
  • Lack of power
  • Not following the manufacturer's recommended oil change interval can cause camshaft actuator failure
