RepairPal.com, the nation’s number one car resource website, is taking consumer knowledge one step further with the launch of the RepairPal Cost Index, a new tool designed to help people understand how much their car repairs will cost them over the long haul.

Have you ever wished you could predict the true cost of owning a car before making the final investment? Or maybe you’re just curious if your spouse’s claim that the family station wagon is a money pit is valid? RepairPal’s newest tool gives consumers a way to compare vehicles based on a calculated “score” for the car in question.

By leveraging our extensive car repair data, provided by our trusted network of RepairPal Certified shops, cars of nearly every make and model are ranked on a scale from 1 to 100. A higher score indicates a more expensive annual cost to maintain the vehicle, whereas a lower number represents a relatively less expensive car to own. Our calculated index scores represent data gathered from real repairs reported by both independent shops and dealerships. Take a look at our recent blog post that uses the RepairPal Cost Index to discover whether or not your truck brand loyalty might be costing you.

“The RepairPal Cost Index is a huge step forward in making auto repair more transparent for consumers,” says Art Shaw, CEO of RepairPal. “No matter what stage of the ownership process you find yourself, this tool is a valuable resource. It makes a time-consuming, complicated research task much simpler and easier to understand for everyone.”
