Looking For A Simple Springtime DIY? Make A Reusable Car Air Freshener

April 2, 2018

Not all us are as creatively inclined as we'd like to be, but occasionally we all need a great, easy outlet to make something, or just a project to keep the kids busy for thirty minutes. Look no further for a fun and useful springtime project: reusable car air fresheners!

Not only are these little fresheners personal and fun, but they're also environmentally-friendly! Simply load them up with essential oils and go.

What you'll need:

  • Felt in various colors
  • Scissors
  • A marker
  • A printed image to trace
  • String or ribbon
  • A hole punch (or you can just use the scissors)

1. Cut out your paper to the shape you'd like to create.
2. Trace this onto the felt piece and carefully cut along the lines.
3. Mark a spot near the top of the object for the hole to thread through with string or ribbon.
4. Use the hole punch to punch through the spot (note: the hole punch didn't work as a perfect cut, so you may want to also clean up the hole with your scissors).
5. Thread through your string or ribbon and tie a loose top knot.
6. Apply essential oils liberally to the felt piece and pat through.
Keep the bottle of essential oils handy in the car. Whenever you want to add, simply shake a few drops onto the felt and hang. Your car will be smelling like an orange grove almost immediately!

Need suggestions on essential oils for the car? Try a citrus scent, like those of oranges, lemons or limes. You can also never go wrong with peppermint and pine near the holidays!
