ABS Differential Sensor

The anti-lock brake system (ABS) differential speed sensor transmits the speed of the differential ring gear to the ABS control module. The control module calculates the vehicle speed using this data.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing ABS Differential Sensor

  • Illumination of the ABS warning light
  • Improper ABS activation

ABS Differential Sensor Related Repair Advice

  • Not all vehicles with ABS have an ABS differential sensor. Some vehicles utilize individual wheel sensors instead of a single differential mounted sensor.

Be sure to replace the Rear Differential fluid when you replace the rear differential ABS Sensor. Over time the fluid gets tiny metal particles from the ring and pinion gear operation and may cause another rear ABS Sensor code to set and could damage the new rear ABS Sensor
