OBD-II Code Transmission may not shift properly is defined as a Transmission Friction Element "G" Apply Time Range/Performance

The Hybrid Control Module monitors the transmission clutch for proper operation. If the Control Module detects the clutch is not activating as commanded, code P273A will be set. The hybrid control module may also place the vehicle in "limp home", limiting available engine/transmission performance to prevent additional damage.

  • Engine may enter limp home mode (reduced performance)
  • Transmission may not shift properly

Common Problems That Trigger the P273A Code

  • Internal transmission failure
  • Transmission fluid level is low
