What Does P0487 Code Mean?

OBD-II Code P0487 is defined as a Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Control Circuit "A" /Open

While this code description suggests there is a fault within the EGR system, this code actually refers to an electrical issue with the intake throttle actuator. The Intake Throttle Actuator is what opens and closes the throttle plate on an electronic throttle body. When the engine control module (PCM) detects an issue with the intake throttle actuator, the PCM will set code P0487.
