What Does P0315 Code Mean?
OBD-II Code P0315 is defined as a Crankshaft Position System Variation not Learned
The Crankshaft Position Sensor measures the exact rotational speed and position of the crankshaft. This provides a critical data signal used by the engine control module (PCM) to control Ignition Spark Timing and Fuel Delivery. On some vehicles the crankshaft position must be relearned by the control module by manually going through the appropriate procedure when the crankshaft sensor is replaced or the battery is disconnected. Failure to properly complete the relearn procedure will set code P0315.
