My vehical seems to have a mind of its own sometimes it wants to start and other times it dont. I did check the battery and the alternator and they are both good. i have googled somethings and i have narrowed it down to what i think is wrong. It could possibly be the solonoid or the cps sensor. I dont know what to do and i dont know why it is doing it

Further information:
Lights dim in and out sometimes.
Seems to be getting worse gas milage from when i bought it a couple months ago.
please help

I have a 97 and the answere is that olds locks up the engine after several miss starts. put the key in then turn it to the on position and bump the key forward as if to start it but then release the key and leave it in position for 10 minutes. Now turn off the ignition for 10 seconds then turn it towards on but do not try to start it for 10 more minutes. Now again turn off the ignition for 10 seconds then turn it towards on but do not try to start it for 10 more minutes. On the third time you turn it off for 10 seconds and turn the switch to on the engine will start. It works my 1997 does it all the time. Larry
