i have a 2004 volvo xc90. in the owners manual it says to use castrol oil and that synthetics will be provided for customer at request. now then i called a volvo dealership and an oil change shop and they both told me that volvo recommends using synthetic. can i not use conventional? also the owners manual called for oil changes every 7500mi.
(you have to scroll up a bit for the oil info on the link)

i have only had this car for a few months and this is what I've got to say: the fuel filler door hinge is a bad design. the plastic they used to mold it is fragile. the seats could have their covering attached a little better. the mpg is not what i would like but the engine seams very powerful. the software in the computer needs numerous updates and as far as i know you have to go to the dealer for that. there has been a fair amount of recall work to be done but haven't had a prob. with getting it. summery: i love this car but you have to stay on top of it.

had this car for four years and it was very good to me. the only major work i had to do to it was replace the radiator due to a crack in the tank. one complaint i had was that the transmission always seemed a little weak like it was about to start slipping or give out. overall i would say reliable but not big enough for a family of four.

one of the best cars i have ever owned. i hope to keep it going for years to come. if you like reliability you would love this car. this car can take some abuse. the only downfall i have to note for this car is that the a/c isn't quite up to par for texas heat.
