Question Asked: fluttering sound on accelerating
September 04, 2009, 02:23 PM
I've noticed a fluttering/rattling sound when I accelerate hard (e.g. freeway on-ramp with a slight incline). Once the speed is even, it stops. It's not a knock or clunk or ping sound - the closest thing I can think of to describe it is something like what a thin metal wire in a can would sound like if you shook it, or maybe like the filament on a burnt our lightbulb (again if you shook it). I think it's coming from the front/engine area, but it's hard to tell. The spark plugs are maybe two years old. Could it be a dirty fuel injector?
Question Asked: ABS light

My car's ABS light turned on during a long drive earlier today. The car and the brakes worked fine for the rest of the drive and for several shorter drives, though the light was still on. Later in the day the light was off until about 10min into the drive when on a slow stop the ABS suddenly engaged and the light turned back on. Any ideas? I did a little looking online - looks like debris/wheel sensor problems are common...
Also, do you know of any mechanics that will check brake codes for free? Thanks!

Great engine. Electrical gets a little touch and go as the car ages. Hate all the gaps and joints in the body - lots of places for water to run and debris to accumulate = rust problems
