Car Review: 1990 Volvo 240
December 13, 2008, 08:33 PM
I drove this Volvo though out most of high school and college. While the 244GL was a safe car, it didn't have much else to offer. The Volvo repair shop was a frequent destination while owning this car. I had a massive folder full of repair receipts that almost bring tears to my eyes just thinking about it. The Volvo had a 3-speed automatic transmission that would skip 2nd gear, electrical problems that caused the alternator to die in the middle of a busy freeway late at night and a pathetically weak engine that would only go 85mph downhill. On top of that, the car got only 15mpg. Also it was not a chick magnet. Needless to say I do not miss that boxy beast.
Car Review: 1992 GMC Suburban 1500
December 11, 2008, 03:59 PM
I had this Suburban for 10 years and it did not hold up well. I had to replace the transmission and the rear end when it had less than 100,000 miles. The air conditioning vents were falling off, the headliner sagged, it handled terribly (it is a massive vehicle)...overall just not a nice vehicle to drive. I finally donated it to charity since it was more expensive to fix than it was worth.
Car Review: 1990 Saab 900
October 29, 2008, 09:08 AM
I had the 900 turbo for 6 years from 1999 to 2005 and it was a complete disaster. It worked maybe half the time I owned it. I had to replace the head gasket, the exhaust manifold gasket multiple times, 2's a very long and expensive list. Eventually the rings on the motor blew and I got a new motor from a salvage yard. Also, there is a vent in the hood which somehow allowed rain water into the passage for the wiring harness into cabin and flooded with 4 inches of water inside over the course of a couple of days while it was broken down in my driveway. That said, when the car worked, it was really fun to drive. It was pretty fast and handled well. With the rear seats folded down, I was able to move my apartment including mattress). I miss driving it but not fixing it.
Car Review: 2005 Pontiac Vibe
October 29, 2008, 08:58 AM
I drove the Vibe around for a month as a rental while my car was in the shop. Overall I enjoyed the vehicle which I commuted 120 miles a day in. It did seem a big weak in the power department and felt a little top heavy, so I didn't try taking any turns too fast. Besides that, it seems like a good car.
Car Review: 2003 Subaru Impreza

I had the WRX version of this car and it was awesome. I had it for 3 years with no problems at all. My only complaint is that the car felt "cheap" but it drove beautifully and never needed any repairs.
