Question Asked: What caused my headlamps to melt and now have nicotine cover leaky surface?
October 29, 2013, 01:08 PM
The lamp covers to my headlights have continued to melt, causeing an ugly eyesore to the covers. Appears they have melted. Could the bulb be a higher voltage then it should be and also, are there any specific type of bulbs that should be installed? I wonder if the dealership could have replaced the bulbs with cheaper version? The older the car gets, the MORE MELTING OF LAMP COVERS! I UNDERSTAND THE COVERS ARE OF PLASTIC AND WILL CONTINE TO BE COVERED WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DARK NICOTINE COLOR..ANYONE HAVE THIS ISSUE? PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT STARTED WITH ONLY ONE HEADLAMP AND NOW THE OTHER ONE IS STARTING TO DO SAME THING, AFTER HAVING A LAMP BULB REPLACED. WILL THIS EROSION BE ABLE TO BE REMOVED OR WILL THE ENTIRE LAMP HAVE TO BE REPLACED?
Question Asked: Is it possible an oil seperator can fail less than 150 mi of having oil changed?
October 29, 2013, 12:37 PM
I had oil changed 3 days prior to 125 mi road trip. During road trip white smoke started coming from tail pipe. A few mi later the check engine light came on and I immediately pulled over. The car was towed back to Firestone who checked prob out and refuse to take care of issue, although there was NO INDICATION of ANY problems prior to oil change. I just turned 72,000 mi on car. Should this prob have been detected during oil change? Appx how much would Porsche dealer charge to replace oil seperator filter, as I have been told by Firestone this is the issue that caused car to engulf in white smoke. PLEASE HELP because Firestone has had my car towed to Porsche dealership and I await their call for quote on repairs. THANKS SO MUCH!
Question Asked: Is is probable an oil change can be related to an oil seperator prob
October 29, 2013, 12:17 PM
Had my oil changed and after appx 100 mi road trip my car started smoking with heavy white smoke. I am being told the oil seperator went bad on car, however, it has nothing to do with having oil changed just 3 days prior! I had no indication of any problem with white smoke, prior to oil change. As soon as my engine light came on, I pulled over and parked the car. It has been towed back to Firestone who did oil change and now they "deny responsiblity" for my issue! My car just turned over to 72,000 mi after oil change. Should this defective oil seperator been detected during oil change? Appx how much will this cost to have oil seperator replaced by Porsche dealer?

Get it to the shop NOW & have your oil seperator replaced! I was told,.."had u not stopped immediately when the check engine light came on You could have caused MAJOR ENGINE Damage! I saw a post where someone paid $2500 for the Same work , that I was charged $789 for by a PORSCHE dealership in Atlanta! The part is only $100 $ rest for labor! I found a video on the web "How to DIY" & it REALLY didn't look like so much work! It's not like u have to take the engine apart to get to it! BUT!!! I'm a woman & this is a "MANS JOB!".. Kinda like a man leaves "mopping&dusting" to a WOMAN!!! ha!..just sayin!...GOOD LUCK! Sign me,.."Been THERE&..SO GLAD I didn't Blow my engine!!!" ;)
Question Answered: My top won't go up, and the spoiler is stuck open.

The same thing happened to my 2001 Boxster. The top would not come up. I returend it back to Firestone who had just done an oil changed and were suppose to change my air filter. They denied they touched the top, although it is required for the air filter to be changed. The tech checked my "fuse"..He said it was "not blown"..THEN..he "RETURNED THE FUSE BACK INTO THE BOX..and top still would not come up! The next day I stopped at a ALL FOREIGN car auto shop, who ALSO CHECKED MY FUSE! It appears the FUSE WAS "wiggly" and NOT properly into the slot! The mechanic took the fuse out,..THEN PLACED FUSE BACK SECURELY INTO THE SLOT AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW,..IM WATCHING MY CONV TOP COME UP!!! Needless to say, I was VERY HAPPY AND GRATEFUL since I had just been told by a diff EURO CAR REPAIR SHOP THE DAY EARLIER,.."SOUNDS LIKE YOU LOST ALL YOUR HYDROLICS"..AND WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR COST, ONLY COST ME A $50 BECAUSE I WAS SO GRATEFUL THE MECHANIC TOOK THE TIME TO CHECK MY CAR OUT, IT WAS MY DECISION TO "TIP HIM FOR HIS HELP!"...He initially told me.."NO CHARGE!"..and it was my first visit to this shop! may want to check the fuse and make sure the fuse is SECURE and NOT LOOSE OR WIGGLY!!! I SURE HOPE YOUR PROB IS FIXXED AS EASY AS MINE WAS! GOOD LUCK!!!
