YOU MUST REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER SKIN TO ACCESS THIS MECHANISM.YOULL FIND TORX SCREWS AT THE INNER PART OF WHERE THE TIRE AND BUBPER MEET ON BOTH SIDES OF CAR OF CAR.AND SIX PUSH BUTTON TABS AT THE TOP OF THE BUMPER WHEN YOU OPEN HOOD.REMOVE HEADLIGHT HELD DOWN BY TWO METAL PINS AT TOP OF HEADLIGHTS. AND PULL HARD ON OUTER EDGE OF BUMPER, WHERE TIRE AND BUMPER MEET.

THERE SHOULD BE A STICKER ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR WITH AN ENGINE DISPLACMENT. .OR YOU CAN REMOVE THE COVER TO THE SPARK PLUGS AND COUNT AND YOULL SEE ITS A 4-CYLINDER.

I WOULD LOOK INTO THE ENGINE REAR MAIN SEAL ,TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR THIS REPAIR. AND IF ITS A TURBO .INSPECT THE TURBO OIL RETURN TUBE SEALS AND GASKETS.

DOES THIS HAPPEN MORE SO WHEN TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT OR JUST WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT??? IT MORE SO WHEN SLIGHTLY TURNING THE WHEEL ,I WOULD CHECK THE LOWER SQUARE SHAPED POWER STEERING LINES THAT ARE LOCATED AT RIGHT LOWER FRONT OF VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THEY LOOK SECURE THEY TEND TO MAKE THIS TYPE NOISE. DO TO THE PRESSURE THAT RUNS THROUGH THEM AND NOT BEING SECURED PROPERLY.

TRY CHECKING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY .LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT VERY TOP LEFT UPPER CORNER BELOW THE WINDSHEILD.REMOVE THE 4-TORX SCREWS AND COVER. RELAY #103 RED. IF ITS THE ORIGINAL RELAY IT WILL HAVE A DATE.REPLACE IT .

STRUT IS MAKING POPPING NOISE DUE TO WHAT IS CALLED A BROKEN UPPER STRUT BEARING SHOCK ABSORBER,YOULL NEED TO REPLACE THE SPRING SEAT AND THE TWO NUTS THAT HOLD IT IN PLACE ASWELL,ONE IS STAR LOOKING ONE,AND THE OTHER IS YOUR STANDARD NUT.YOUR LOCAL VOLVO DEALER IS VERY AWARE OF THESES PARTS WHEN ASKED.

SQUEALING NOISE CAN BE POSSIBLY DUE TO THE BRAKE METAL BACKING PLATE.SLIGHTLY TOUCHING THE ROTOR WHEN TURNING.AND WOULD NEED RE-ADJUSTING THE PLATE AWAY FROM THE ROTOR. BUT DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF SQUEALING NOISE,CAN BE ANYTHING ,?IF YOU HAVE NONE VOLVO BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS THAT CAUSES ALOT OF SQUEAL ASWELL. MAKE SURE BRAKE CALIPER RETAINER SPRINGS ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY,

WOULD HELP.IN THE DIOGNOSIS.BUT FOR THE AIR WHOOSHING SOUND, I WOULD START BY CHECKING FOR ANY TORN TURBO INTERCOOLER RUBBER HOSES.ONE IS LOCATED JUST OBOVE THE RADIATOR,ONE AT TURBO ISTSELF.AND ONE LONG HOSE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIR FILTER BOX ,COULD BE A COIL,OR A BAD SPARK PLUG, FOR IT FEELING LIKE ITS NOT RUNNING ON ALL FOUR CYLINDERS.

IF YOU HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY IN THE CAR .TRY WHAT IS CALLED A BATTERY RESET .REMOVE BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGITIVE CALBLES FROM BATTERY POSTS AND TOUCH BOTH CABLES TOGETHER FOR ABOUT 1-MINUTE.DO THIS WITH OUT TOUCHING THE BATTERY POSTS ON THE BATTERY . AFTER A MINUTE PUT THEM BACK ON THE BATTERY.POSITIVE WITH POSITIVE AND NEGITIVE WITH NEGITIVE. AND SEE IF THE CAR COMES OUT OF LIMP MODE.
