Question Asked: What exactly do I need to purchase when I need new struts on my car?
November 30, 2012, 12:42 PM
I recently took my car to Midas for a routine oil change and tire rotation plus inspection and they recommended that I get all of the struts replaced, since the mileage on my car is at 78,000 without a previous replacement. Where can I purchase struts online? Do I need the whole shock assembly replaced or just the struts? What struts do you recommend for my car? (I would also like to maybe lower my car about an inch from stock; not enough to where I need to roll my fenders but would like advice on how difficult it would be as well as expensive for either lowered springs or coilovers) The mechanic gave me an estimate of about $1,168.42 total for both parts and labor.
Question Asked: When should the Tensioner Pulley and Serpentine Belt be replaced?
November 30, 2012, 12:31 PM
I took my 2005 Honda Accord EX 4D 4cyl. to Midas for a routine oil change and tire rotation plus a free inspection and the mechanic said that I should get the Tensioner Pulley and Serpentine Belt replaced. The pulley is worn (a little rough with streaks of black from the belt but not bad) but there are not sounds or anything that tells me it is performing less than a brand new one. The belt they said is cracked in several areas, but since my car is 2005 I thought it should be made of EPDM and crack-proof. Should I get these things replaced for their estimate of $236.32 including parts and labor?
