Rear Shock Absorber Replacement

Shock absorbers dampen the shock the suspension absorbs when the vehicle is driven over an uneven road surface. There is a shock absorber at each wheel. The top of the shock absorber is attached to the chassis of the vehicle, and the bottom is attached to the suspension.

The integrity of shock absorbers is essential to maintaining tire contact with the road and providing passenger comfort.

To replace a shock absorber, the wheel is supported, the shock absorber and its hardware and bushings are removed, and a new shock absorber is installed. To maintain vehicle stability, shock absorbers are replaced as a set, i.e., both front shock absorbers are replaced at the same time.
