Trans Fluid Temperature sensor circuit error (low voltage)
The ECM monitors the transmission fluid temperature sensor and can adjust the transmission operation based on the fluid temperature. If the circuit is shorted to ground code 58 will set.

- 58 -Trans fluid temp sensor circuit error (low voltage)
Symptoms
- Check engine light may be on
Common Problems
- Transmission temperature sensor
VATS (Vehicle Anti-theft System) error
The ECM receives a signal from the Anti-theft system module. When the correct signal is received, the ECM will allow the engine to start and run. Please review the RepairPal article on the GM VATS system for more information.
Fault Code Description
- 48 - VATS system error
Symptoms
- Engine may not start
Common Problems
- Faulty wiring to ignition lock cylinder or ignition lock cylinder
