Cylinder Head

Mounted to the top of the engine block, the cylinder head houses the intake and exhaust valves, as well as the spark plugs.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Cylinder Head

  • Engine misfire
  • Engine overheating
  • Excessive oil consumption

Cylinder Head Related Repair Advice

  • The cylinder head mounting surface should be thoroughly inspected when replacing the head gasket
  • To avoid damage to the cylinder head, manufacturer's recommendations should be followed when removing spark plugs from an aluminum cylinder head

My 2012 cruze has blown out a spark plug 3 or 4 times in the 6 months since we got it. I've retaped it and used helix coils but it won't stay. It also tears up coil pack. Any advice?
