Crankcase

Mounted between the engine block and the oil pan, the crankcase supports the crankshaft, allowing it to spin freely while transmitting power (torque) from the engine.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Crankcase

  • Engine oil leak
  • Knocking noise from engine
  • Engine-specific oil sealing procedures must be employed when installing the crankcase
