Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association

Founded in 1954, the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) is an international trade association for the professional automatic transmission repair industry. Located in Oxnard, California, ATRA has over 2000 members worldwide who consist of repair specialists, students, schools, and suppliers.

Why We Think ATRA Membership Is Important

Technicians become ATRA-certified by studying and passing ATRA exams in three areas of transmission diagnosis and repair. They must have at least two years of experience in the business and must pledge to follow the ATRA member code of ethics and comply with the "golden rule" warranty. Members receive a great deal of support from ATRA, which they pass on to their customers.

Benefits to the Consumer

  • Customer is assured of polite, professional service at an honest price
  • ATRA shops provide a 3 year/50,000 mile, “golden rule” warranty on all transmission repairs that is honored in over 1900 member shops in the USA and Canada
  • ATRA is the largest automatic transmission repair network in the world and is over twice the size of the largest chain in the U.S.
  • Every ATRA member must adhere to to ATRA’s code of ethics and standards for providing honest professional service
