Air Conditioning Hose

By Andy Y, July 27, 2009

An AC (air conditioning) hose is a specially constructed, high pressure (500 psi) rubber hose with special aluminum fittings crimped on each end. Its purpose is to connect engine-mounted components to the body-mounted components of an AC system.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Air Conditioning Hose

  • Weak cool air from system (or no cold air at all)
  • Visible oil residue on hose or fittings

Air Conditioning Hose Related Repair Advice

  • All AC hoses should be inspected whenever any major AC work is performed
  • All hoses should be properly restrained so they don't rub on other components and become damaged
