OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Crankshaft Position Signal Output Circuit/Open

The Crankshaft Position Sensor tells the engine computer (PCM) the position of the crankshaft. Inside the PCM is a driver that supplies power and ground to the sensor. If the PCM detects the driver is not functioning properly, code P2617 will set.
