OBD II Fault Code

  • OBD II P245D

OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bypass Control Circuit High

The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gases back through the engine so that any remaining unburned fuel can be burned. The engine computer (PCM) is programmed to bypass the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler under certain driving conditions. The PCM monitors the system to ensure that the bypass valve operates as requested. If the EGR bypass valve fails to operate as requested, code P245D is stored.

Common Problems That Trigger the P245D Code

    • Damaged EGR cooler assembly
    • EGR cooler bypass valve failure
    • Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure
