OBD-II Code Water separator failure is defined as a Water in Fuel Condition

Diesel vehicles have a sensor built into the fuel system to detect excessive water contamination in the fuel. When the engine control module (PCM) determines that there too much water in the fuel, the PCM will set code P2269 and illuminated the water in fuel light on the instrument cluster.
