OBD-II Code Decreased engine performance is defined as a Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High
The Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor tells the engine control module (PCM) the temperature of the exhaust gas coming out of the engine. High exhaust temperatures can lead to engine or turbocharger failure. If the PCM detects an incorrect signal from the EGT sensor, it will store code P0549.
