OBD-II Code A/C may not operate is defined as a A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent
The A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor is used to prevent the evaporator from getting too cold and freezing up. When the engine control module (PCM) detects a problem with this sensor or the signal from it, the PCM will set code P0539.
