OBD II Fault Code

  • OBD II P001A

OBD-II Code Decreased engine performance is defined as a "A" Camshaft Profile Control Circuit/Open

Newer engines have valves that are electro-hydraulically controlled instead of being driven by a timing belt or chain. This improves fuel efficiency and engine performance. When the engine control module (PCM) detects that the valves are not being operated as desired, it will set code P001A.

    Decreased engine performance Symptoms

    • Decreased engine performance
    • Increased fuel consumption

Common Problems That Trigger the P001A Code

    • Camshaft variable timing solenoid failure
    • Engine oil level is too low
    • The engine oil does not meet the manufacturer's requirements
    • Variable valve timing actuator failure
