OBD-II Code Decreased engine performance is defined as a "A" Camshaft Profile Control Circuit/Open
Newer engines have valves that are electro-hydraulically controlled instead of being driven by a timing belt or chain. This improves fuel efficiency and engine performance. When the engine control module (PCM) detects that the valves are not being operated as desired, it will set code P001A.
