Timing Belt Hydraulic Tensioner

The timing belt hydraulic tensioner maintains the appropriate tension of the timing belt. It uses pressurized engine oil to provide continual pressure on the tensioner pulley’s tension lever.

The hydraulic tensioner utilizes a ratchet mechanism, which locks the tensioner in a stationary position when the engine is not operating. This mechanism is unlocked as soon as the engine is operating and again providing oil pressure.
