2007 Mitsubishi Galant Problems
RepairPal has identified the most common problems with the 2007 Mitsubishi Galant based on complaints from actual vehicle owners. We'll tell you what the problem is and what it'll take to fix it.
The automatic transmission may fail prematurely. Transmission overhaul or replacement may be necessary to correct this concern.
The power windows may fail, often related to moisture inside the door. Affected components will need to be replaced. If possible some type of moisture protection could be added to try and prevent repeat failures.
A rattle type noise may develop from one of the exhaust heat shields. Replacement of the affected heat shield may be required to correct this issue.
The automatic transmission may develop a 2-3 shift flair. This is commonly caused by an internal fault related to the reverse clutch assembly. Replacement of the rear housing and reverse clutch assembly may be required to correct this concern.
A brake pedal pulsation may be noted on brake apply. This is commonly caused by warping of the front brake rotors. Our technicians remind us that re-machining (turning) the rotors can correct this issue but the repair may last only a short time as the thinner rotors would be even more prone to warping. Replacement of faulty rotors with high quality parts is often the best option in these situations.
The Check Engine Light may illuminate due to one or more engine vacuum leaks. Our technicians tell us these leaks can be caused by damage to seals and/or vacuum hoses as a result of to much ethanol content in the gasoline. Affected hoses and seals must be replaced to correct this concern.
The clutch may fail prematurely or cause a buzzing type noise from the dash area. It has been recommended by some that a high quality aftermarket replacement clutch may provide increased longevity over a clutch purchased from the dealer.
One or both side airbag modules may fail resulting in illumination of the airbag warning light. Side airbag modules determined to be faulty should be replaced.
There have been reports of airbags not deploying in the event of a frontal impact. Some claim that a shorted airbag wire harness can cause this to occur. Unfortunately there is no diagnoses that will isolate this problem other than fault codes stored in the airbag control module. Our technicians recommend to have any airbag light issues diagnosed and repaired in order to help ensure the airbags will deploy when needed.
It is not uncommon for the clear coat paint on black vehicles to develop white spots and begin peeling. In most cases Mitsubishi will not cover out of warranty repairs for this condition.
The drivers power seat may not adjust properly or develop a noise issue when adjusting. This is commonly caused by a damaged drive cable which will require replacement.
