Saturn Sky Redline Coupes may display the warning message "A/C off for Engine Protection" on the instrument panel. This may be accompanied by illumination of the check engine light and the temperature gauge reading cold at all times. This is a feature of the engine that is activated by the power control module when it detects the engine warming up too slowly. The OBD trouble code P0128 may also be stored.

The cause is simply a worn out thermostat that stays open at all times, preventing the engine from reaching the proper operating temperature.

Replacement of the thermostat will correct the issue.

The fuel injection system for the 2.0L turbo engine places fuel directly into the combustion chambers. This is called "direct injection". Due to the high fuel pressure associated with this type of system a noticeable clicking noise can be heard from the fuel injectors.

A Loose or worn gas cap may cause Check Engine Light to illuminate.

Extended life coolant may become contaminated and require cooling system service before the recommended 100,000 miles.

Brake fluid can become dirty and may cause problems in the brake system; it should be flushed every 60,000 miles.

The rear axle pinion seal may leak causing fluid loss and possible internal rear end damage. Replacing the faulty seal will commonly correct this concern.

Care must be taken when opening and closing the manual convertible top. The top is prone to damage from improper use.
