Vibration When Braking Due to Rotor Problem
The front brake rotors can warp and cause a vibration when braking. The rotors will need to be machined or in cases where they are worn to thin, replaced to correct this issue.
Transmission Failure Common
Automatic transmission failures are common, Automatic transmission failure on these vehicles will generally require overhaul or replacement of the transmission. In the event of a failure, it may be worthwhile to check with Honda to see if they may offer assistance for this repair. As these vehicles age, Honda has become less likely to help out with these transmission related repairs.
Front Compliance Bushings May Crack
Front compliance (lower control arm ) bushings tend to crack and break requiring replacement.
Vibration, Roughness, and Rattle Due to Damaged Engine Mounts
Damaged engine mounts can lead to vibration and roughness felt in the steering wheel. A rattle in the dash and engine area may also be heard. Replacement of damaged mounts will commonly correct these issues.
Radio/Climate Control Display May Go Dark
The radio and climate control display can go dark on some models. It will be necessary to replace the affected unit to correct this concern. Some customers have reported receiving help from Honda regarding this repair.
Plugged Moon Roof Drains May Cause Water Leak
Plugged moon roof drains can cause a water leak inside the car. The water will usually leak onto the driver's or passenger's head when the car turns a corner.
Problems Shifting Into 3rd Gear
Some models have shift quality problems when shifting into third gear. A new "third gear set" from Honda will address this issue.
Engine Oil Leaks Due to Porous Engine Block Casting
The engine may develop and oil leak due to a porous engine block casting. The repair procedure is dependent on where the leak is located. Honda has released a service bulletin covering model years 1998-2003. Honda may offer assistance with repairs, determined on a case by case basis.
Knocking Noise From Rear of Vehicle
One or both of the rear sway bar end links may break resulting in a knocking noise from the rear of the vehicle.
ABS Modulator May Leak Air and Cause Low Brake Pedal
The ABS modulator (hydraulic unit) can leak air into the brake system and cause a low brake pedal. A new ABS modulator will be needed if it is diagnosed to be the source of the leak.
Check Engine Light Due to Failed Air Fuel Sensor
Issues with the air fuel sensor (oxygen sensor) can set a Check Engine Light. A failed sensor will need to be replaced for this repair.
Driver's Door May not Open
The driver's door latch assembly can break internally, which causes the door to stay closed. The interior and exterior door handles do not work to open the door. Our technicians note that the door panel must be removed while the door is closed (likely damage will occur) and the latch assembly must be drilled in a specific spot for the door to open.
Air Conditioning Blowing Warm Air
The AC condenser failed due to contact with road debris and a lack of protection for the condenser.
Head Lights Dim, Check Engine Light On
A faulty Electric Load Detector (ELD) can cause the head lights to dim and/or illuminate the Check Engine Light. A failed ELD will require replacement.
PCM update to fix misfire and false CEL
Unevenly set camber may cause vehicle to drift to right
The Brake Pedal May Feel Hard After Vehicle Has Set For Extended Time
If the brake pedal feels hard the first time it is pressed in the morning, it could be due to a problem with the vacuum supply hose for the brake booster. A revised brake booster hose is available to address this concern.
Defective Timing Belt Tensioner May Cause Premature Timing Belt Failure
Accords powered by the V6 engine had a defective timing belt tensioner that could result in excess "slack" in the timing belt. This could cause premature timing belt failure, which could result in serious engine damage.
Update PCM/replace fuel pressure regulator to fix long crank time
Front Compliance Bushings May Crack
Front compliance (lower control arm ) bushings tend to crack and break requiring replacement.
ABS Light Due to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Fault
Occasionally, the anti-lock brake (ABS) warning light may illuminate. This could be due to a faulty rear wheel speed sensor. The sensor design has been updated and revised parts are available to correct this problem.
Faulty Limit Switch May Prevent Moon Roof From Closing
The moon roof may not close all the way because of a faulty limit switch. The headliner must be removed to replace the limit switch.
Check Engine Light and Higher Than Normal Idle Cold
If the idle is higher than normal when the engine is cold and the Check Engine Light is on, the powertrain control module (PCM) may need a software update to fix the concern.
Computer may misinterpret low battery voltage and cause CEL
Software update to correct false air fuel sensor fault
