Rattle noise from rear brake pads
Engine Knock After Cold Start May Not Be a Concern
Some engines may experience a cold engine knock that lasts for three to five minutes after start-up, which is often misdiagnosed as a valve lifter noise. This noise is commonly not an indication of a failure and should not be a reliability or durability concern.
Engine oil leaks from cam plug and seal, valve cover, head gasket, and distributor
Oil leaks may develop from the camshaft plug, camshaft seal, valve cover, cylinder head gasket, and distributor.
Replace timing belt at 60,000 miles in hot climates
Timing belt replacement should be done at 60K intervals or sooner in very hot climates. The timing belt tensioner pulley should be replaced any time the timing belt is replaced.
Oil leaks from cam plugs and seals, valve covers, crank seal, and oil filter bracket
Excess oil comsumption due to valve guide issues
Excessive oil consumption—defined as more than one quart per 1,000 miles (on vehicles with less than 50,000 miles) or more than one quart per 750 miles (on vehicles with more than 50,000 miles)—is common. Replacing the valve guides with an updated version should fix the problem.
Testing for excessive bleed down from valve lash adjusters
Squeeking noise from exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe sealing ring
Replace fuel filter if fuel pump is replaced
Fuel pump failures are not uncommon on higher mileage cars. Our technicians recommend to replace the fuel filter if the fuel pump is being replaced.
Erratic idle due to faulty idle air control motor
Vacuum hoses or electrical connectors may cause drivability issues
It is not unusual for engine vacuum hoses or sensor electrical connectors to cause driveability concerns and/or the Check Engine Light to illuminate.
Fuel leak from injectors or their O-rings
Fuel injectors or their o-rings may leak fuel causing the engine to burn too much fuel.
Stalling or "no start" issues due to faulty distributor pickup plate
Driveability concerns due to intake valve deposits
Various driveability concerns can be caused by deposits on the back of the intake valves. Fuel injector cleaner has shown reasonable results cleaning light deposits.
Snapping noise from exhaust pipe when cooling off
Stalling or Low Engine Idle Speed Due to Dirty Throttle Body
A dirty throttle body can cause a low idle condition resulting in a stalling condition.
Exhaust leak from manifold to converter seal
A hissing noise from the exhaust may be caused by a poor seal between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter.
Hard starting or rough idle due to leaking fuel injectors
Hard starting or rough idle after the vehicle is parked for a period of time may be caused by leaking fuel injectors.
High piched whistling noise from idle air control motor
Corrections for excessive fuel pump noise
Abnormal fuel pump noise may be noted. There is a revised fuel pump, wiring harness, fuel tank insulators, fuel tank straps, and fuel tank available depending on the vehicle.
Low fuel pressure due to fuel pump check valve
Low fuel pressure may be caused by a faulty fuel pump check valve.
Incorrect fuel pressure due to faulty fuel pump module
Noise over bumps due to broken rear torsion bar
A broken rear torsion bar can cause an abnormal noise over bumps. The torsion bar is part of the rear trailing arm, which must be replaced to correct this issue.
Squeak noise from gear shift lever cable attachment point
Shifter locked in neutral or reverse
Load sensitive whine from transaxle
Cruise control problem due to poor connection at speed sensor
TCC shudder due to transmission fluid issues
HVAC Air Flow Switching to Defrost When Accelerating
The AC/heater (HVAC) system may unexpectedly switch to the defrost mode when accelerating. This system is operated by engine vacuum and should be inspected for any vacuum leaks if this problem develops. There is also a revised vacuum check valve available to address this concern.
Alternator belt chirp due to pulley misalignment
Creak noise from the steering column
Sagging rear suspension due to poor connection at relay
Transmission issues require overhaul of transmission
Brake pedal may not return properly
Retainers on wood door trim may break
Hesitation caused by plugged EGR back pressure tube
HVAC Odors Due to Microbial Growth Issues
Odors from the AC (HVAC) system may be caused by microbial growth on the AC evaporator. Our technicians recommend to keep the AC inlet free of leaves and debris and treating the evaporator and housing using a disinfectant spray.
Fautly transmission control module
No start due to corrosion of the coolant sensor wiring
Corrosion on the coolant temperature sensor wiring may cause a hard or no start condition in cold ambient temperatures.
