Rough and/or High Idle Due to Engine Vacuum Leak
The upper intake manifold gasket and/or a PCV vacuum lines/hoses can develop vacuum leaks with age. This type of leak can result in a higher that normal or rough idle.
Poor Ride/Handling Due to Worn Suspension Struts
The front struts may show signs of wear, or be excessively bouncy ride at freeway speeds. This may begin to occur at around 75,000 miles.
High Pressure Power Steering Hose Can Leak Fluid
The high pressure power steering hose will commonly leak fluid; it should be replaced.
Steering rack can fail
The steering rack may fail causing the steering to become hard to turn.
Rich-running engine due to oxygen sensor failure
The oxygen sensor can fail causing the engine to run very rich or use more gasoline than normal. Black smoke may be emitted from the tail pipe and this can also accelerate failure of the catalytic converter.
The Engine May Stall After Extended Freeway Driving
The torque converter clutch can stick "on" after extended freeway driving causing the engine to stall when coming to a stop. Our technicians tell us when this occurs, the engine usually will restart and stall when put into gear. After allowing about twenty minutes for the engine and transmission to cool down, the engine will start and the transmission will operate normally. Replacing the torque converter clutch solenoid, transmission filter, and fluid will generally correct this issue.
Engine temperature sensor wire may touch rear exhaust manifold and cause a short
The engine temperature sensor wire for the engine temperature gauge, or warning light, may touch the rear exhaust manifold causing a short to ground causing erratic operation of the temperature gauge or warning light.
Wear In Outer Tie Rod Ends Can Cause Steering Problems
The outer tie rod ends on the steering linkage may wear causing excessive free play in the steering and uneven tire wear. If the worn tie rod ends are replaced, the wheel alignment should be checked and adjusted as necessary.
Front Brake Rotor Wear Can Cause Pulsations
Front brake rotors can wear causing a pulsation felt in the brake pedal. Our technicians tell us this condition is best corrected by replacement of the front rotors and brake pads.
Transmission Fluid Leak From Cooler Line
The rubber section of an automatic transmission cooler line may develop a fluid leak . In some cases the leaking section of hose can be replaced. In others, the complete cooler line must be replaced to correct this concern.
Coolant Leak From Water Pump
A coolant leak and/or engine overheating may be caused by a failed water pump. Replacement of the leaking pump should correct this concern.
Inside Door Handles May Break
The inside door handle may break causing the door not to open from the inside.
Stalling or Low Engine Idle Speed Due to Dirty Throttle Body
Body: A dirty throttle body may cause a lower than normal engine idle resulting in a stalling condition. A stalling condition may also result if an idle learn procedure is not performed if the battery goes dead or is disconnected.
Car Won't Start Due to Ignition Module/Crankshaft Position Sensor Failure
The ignition module or crankshaft position sensor may fail causing the engine to die and not restart. Diagnoses will be necessary to determine if the module or crank sensor is causing the no start condition.
Fuel injectors can short-circuit
Fuel injectors can short-circuit electrically causing a rougher than normal idle and reduced performance.
Replace engine coolant every 30,000 miles
Engine Stall Or No Start Condition
The fuel pump may fail causing engine to stall and not restart.
Timing gears can cause knocking sound
