Mercedes-Benz G550 Problems

Knocking from suspension on rough roads due to worn or loose sway bar links
A knocking sound heard from the front or rear suspension while driving over rough roads may be caused by the sway bar linkages. The linkages should be inspected for tightness and condition; there are redesigned linkages if replacement is necessary.
Misfires Under Load

Misfires under load (acceleration) can be caused by leaky spark plug boots. When a spark plug boot leaks, it allows the spark to arc, or jump, to the cylinder head. New spark plug wires will be needed.

Mercedes-Benz G550 Recalls

Loose Airbag Trim Can Fly Off During Airbag Deployment

Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain model year 2011 G550 and G55 (AMG) vehicles manufactured from September 20, 2010, through April 27, 2011. If the front passenger airbag were to deploy, parts of its molding strip could become loose and become a projectile in the passenger compartment. This projectile would increase the risk of personal injury during airbag deployment. Dealers will reinforce the connection between the molding strip and airbag cover flap to correct this concern.

Front Turn Signals Not Bright Through Grill Cover

The covers of the grill that protect the front turns signals prevent the signals from being seen well enough. Dealers will replace the signal assemblies with improved ones optimized for usage with the grills free of charge to resolve the concern.

Mercedes-Benz Recalls 2009 550 G-Class Vehicles Due to Fuel Line Problems

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 2009 550 G-Class models due to fuel line quick connectors that were not properly connected on the assembly line. In case of a frontal crash, the fuel pump may no longer function, which could lead to fuel loss. In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak can result in a fire. Dealers will check the connectors and install a new clamp free of charge.
