Frequently Asked Questions

RepairPal is the leading provider of auto repair and maintenance services and information for consumers. RepairPal is a Force for Good in automotive repair, and their mission is to take the mystery out of repair services by bringing trust and transparency back to the industry.

All RepairPal Certified shops are rigorously screened by RepairPal for quality, tools, training, customer satisfaction, warranty* and a commitment to honor the price guidelines set by their Fair Price Estimator.

The RepairPal Certified Network of shops and dealers is the largest network of trusted auto repair facilities. All RepairPal Certified locations have been evaluated to meet the highest standards of quality, customer satisfaction, and fair pricing.

Assurant protects 47 million cars worldwide with Vehicle Service Contracts and works with thousands of clients across the auto industry. Assurant has partnered with RepairPal so that when a mechanical breakdown happens, drivers have a Certified network of high quality shops at their fingertips.

RepairPal Certified Shops are third-party service providers, and they are not owned or controlled by Assurant.

To become RepairPal Certified, shops must meet specific quality standards. One of those standards is in relation to customer satisfaction, and RepairPal measures that by independently surveying their customers. Not only must a shop meet that standard, but they must maintain it to keep their RepairPal Certified status.

RepairPal has invested considerable resources and effort to build a Fair Price Estimator, with the goal being to provide fair price ranges on hundreds of mechanical repairs for most vehicle models dating back to 1990.

RepairPal Certified shops agree to honor the price ranges quoted in their Fair Price Estimator, so customers can have confidence that they are paying a reasonable price for quality work.

The Fair Price Estimator draws from several industry standard labor guides and OEM part pricing feeds, as well as local shop labor rates for a given area. All repair estimates derived from RepairPal’s Fair Price Estimator are guaranteed by RepairPal for up to 30 days from the date generated.

Once your chosen licensed repair facility diagnoses your vehicle’s problem and submits a claim, an adjuster will review the claim details and information to determine coverage.

  • If enough information is available, the claim will be approved or denied based on the terms of your agreement/service contract, and this decision will be relayed to the repair facility that submitted the claim.
  • If more information is needed to determine coverage, the adjuster may request a third-party or virtual inspection of the vehicle and/or request additional details about the claim from the repair facility and/or you.

Once the claim has been approved, the repair facility will request approval from you to complete the needed repairs.

When the repair is complete, the repair facility will submit a finalized invoice for the approved claim to Assurant, and Assurant will pay the shop directly.

RepairPal Certified shops begin by completing a thorough diagnosis of your vehicle, which typically involves a combination of visual inspection and the use of scan tools that can detect problem codes.

It’s important to give the shop as much information as possible when bringing the vehicle in, including, but not limited to:

  • Any unusual sounds
  • Any change in vehicle performance or handling
  • Whether the issue is persistent or intermittent
  • Any dashboard indicators that have been present
  • When the problem occurs (cold engine, above a certain MPH, etc)

This depends on your policy type. You should contact the roadside assistance administrator found on the Policies tab of My Account, or by referencing the Emergency Roadside Assistance or Additional Benefits section of your agreement/service contract.

Under the Quick Links on the Policies tab, you can find a pdf sample of your agreement/service contract.

In the rare event that your repair has failed, simply contact the RepairPal Certified shop that completed your original service and they will honor their service warranty.

The minimum 12 month/12,000 mile warranty is provided by the RepairPal Certified shop, and is subject to exclusions, including but not limited to normal wear and tear items (such as tires, brake pads, clutches, wiper blades, etc.), wheel alignments and scheduled maintenance.

For additional details, terms and conditions, please refer to your selected RepairPal Certified shop’s warranty at the time of purchase.

If you experience any difficulties or have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact RepairPal directly at assurant@repairpal.com or 1-877-287-5234.
