2003 Isuzu Ascender Problems
The horn may not work at times
The horn may not function at times due to a faulty ground circuit in the steering column. Our technicians tell us that adding a ground strap between the upper and lower steering column mounting points will commonly correct this issue.
Engine will not crank due to blown fuse
A no crank condition may occur and the IGN E fuse is blown. If this occurs our technicians recommended 3 places to inspect for wiring issues: Under the sill place at the drivers side rear door opening, along the steering column, and near the brake pedal bracket. Damaged wires will require repair and should be repositioned and protected from further damage.
The transfer case position sensor may fail
The 4WD warning message may be displayed with a code C0327. The transfer case position sensor is commonly at fault and will require replacement.
Harsh transmission shifting due to failed input speed sensor
The transmission may develop a harsh shift condition with the Check Engine Light on and fault code P0717 stored. This is commonly cased by a failed input speed sensor (ISS), located inside the transmission. The wiring at the sensor may be found damaged. If so, the sharp edges near with ISS wiring should be filed smooth to protect the new speed sensor wiring from damage.
Check Engine Light with code P0606
The Check Engine Light may illuminate with a code P0606 stored. Our technicians tell us updating the powertrain control module (PCM) software will generally correct this concern.
Check Engine Light with codes P0171 & P0172
The Check Engine Light may illuminate with codes P0171 and P0172 stored. Our technicians tell us reprogramming the powertrain control module (PCM) and replacing the fuel pump may be necessary to correct this concern.
The engine cooling fan may fail
The engine cooling fan may fail resulting in illumination of the Check Engine Light and a possible overheating condition.
The Check Engine Light may illuminate due to a failed catalytic converter
One or both catalytic converters may fail resulting in illumination of the Check Engine Light. Replacement of the failed catalytic converter will be necessary to correct this condition.
No start due to failed ignition switch
The ignition switch may fail resulting in a no start condition. Replacement of the failed switch is necessary to correct this condition.
