My M6 for the most part is my favorite car of all time, and ive had over 100+ vehicles. I`ve had it doing 160 MPH before having to slow down for traffic on the thruway, which showed how awesome the brakes are, on that car. I thought 160 was pretty good for only using 6 of the 7 gears in the trans. I too hear a noise when i turn sharply to the right in the rear end of the car though. Reading reviews i guess its something to do with the differential. Then recently it hasnt been shifting quite right. Last time i took it in for a check up on some issues i was having with the oil cooler mysteriously getting a hole in it. They also replaced the positive cable for the recall( which was done incorrectly)Anyhow i wanted tem to check the trans. and im not sure if they did, cuz when your at a complete stop, sometimes when re-engaging the clutches, it engages hard, which i dont like. Im pissed that BMW of Rochester NY did a piss poor job at replacing the poitive cable and not checking the transmission out. That was 1700 dollars well spent. So anyone dealing with BMW of Rochester be weary. Lets recap what happened. I went to a movie and i knew i was low on gas, but i figured id fill up after the movie. I came out and the car did nothing. Thinking there was a switch not allowing it to start because it was so low on fuel i went and bought a gas can and some high test, and put it in. Still nothing when i tried to start it. I popped the hood and checked the cable that was just replaced and it pulled right out of the junction box. Not having any tools,I found a dime to act as a shim and wedged that and the cable into the junction box. I got in the car and hit the start button and low and behold it started. I then drove straight home and spent an hour repairing BMW of Rochesters F--- Up. I was not a happy camper. I tried emailing them but both emails bounced right back to me. So does anyone know a reputable dealer who treats customers like they should be treated?
I have experienced the exact same issue with my 07 m6. I too had the flange and lube bulletin performed without any improvement or success. I have had two dealers look at this issue and they are non responsive. I am going to have one more dealer evaluate this issue and then file a civil compliant against BMW this month. For a vehicle with an MSRP of $109000 BMW has to correct this issue or face the consequences.
I purchased this vehicle used with 23,000. I have a problem with a rear diff clunking noise when shifting. Other than this isssue the vehicle is perfect. BMW has a bulliten and fix for this problem but I just had this done and BMW's (new flange and lube replace) fix did not correct the problem. I believe that all M5's and M6's have this problem and BMW needs to address or face a class action law suit which I will be happy to initiate.
