What Car Does the Next U.S. President Drive?

There's been a lot of talk about what cars the presidential candidates drive over the past few months.  In fact, Newsweek recently featured an investigative article on this subject.  The results are entertaining.

Quantity.
First of all, Barack Obama owns just one car.  John McCain owns thirteen.  That's right - 13!

Make & Model. The Obamas own a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid.  While the McCains own a breadth of cars, apparently John's favorite ride is his 2004 Cadillac CTS.

Domestic vs. Import. Both candidates cars are all-American.  However, the rest of McCain's fleet includes a 2005 VW convertible and a 2001 Honda sedan.

Fossil fuel vs. alternative energy. The Obama's Hybrid is arguably an environmentally friendly car versus McCain's gas guzzler.  That said, among McCain's fleet, he also has three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles which balances things out a bit.

But how does this translate into maintenance costs?  You can learn more about common problems with the candidate's favorite cars on RepairPal.  Check it out:
