With oil change overdue, oil and check engine lights came on, OBD-II Code 1354.

Scanner diagnostic is Variable Valve Timing System Fault. Any idea whether I need to take it in or just start with an oil change?

Agree with #1, Wix is also a good filter, and use synthetic or semi-synthetic oil. Also you should clean the two VVT (variable valve timing) filters which are likely causing the engine code.

Agree with both.... also keep oil changed at proper intervals to prevent more problems!

How low was the oil level ? Recommend using a Toyota oil filter and Good brand oil(proper weight) Have code cleared and see what happens?

Not too low. That's what I am hoping for, so I'll try it before I take it in. Thank you.
