Wiper fuse bows when the key is turned on

(1998 Dodge Ram Van 1500)
in Williams, AZ on January 23, 2010
yesterday we had alot of snow, the wipers worked a couple cycles then stopped, fuse had blown and when I replace the fuse they blow as soon as the key is turned to the on position, I checked for snow/ice and shorts but couldnt find anything. Could the motor go just like that? note intermitten wipers hadnt worked as long as I had the truck, could the switch have anything to do with all my issues ?

if the fuse blows then the wiper circuit is being over loaded. the mechanism may be jammed. DISCONNECT the battery and then remove the linkages. then reconnect the linkages and test the motor. see if just the motor blows the fuse or if it is jammed linkages.
