Wining noise

the car is making a wining noise when it is running i think it sounds like the starter is staying ingaged did anybody have this problem

The whining noise is not likely the starter. If the starter was staying engaged there would also be a grinding noise as well. A closer inspection may reveal that the Power Steering Pump or Generator is the source. In rare instances, the Transmission Torque Converter will make a whining noise and or the Transmission itself. In this case, failure is imminent.

Sounds like the transmission to me. There are several belts inside an automatic transmission and when it is going bad it will whine.
