Window regulators and chattering noise as wondow goes up

Driver side window is scrapping when going up and passenger front side window shakes when going up? A Chevy dealer says i will need two "window regulators" with each costing about $1200. ( labor included). Does this sound correct? Is this something I can have done at a neighborhood car shop and not a Chevy dealer?????

The price seems high to me. I would think $1200 should cover both front regulators. I am assuming your Equinox is out of warranty. If your mileage is not to high it may be worth a call to GM customer service to see if they will help out with the repair cost. Window regulators are generally something that can be handled by a quality neighborhood repair shop.
